Tool and Die Maker

Responsibilities

As a Tool & Die Maker you will build new tools, fixtures and jigs, sharpen and repair existing tooling. You will also set up and debug new tooling establishing material feed angles, pilot release angles and adjusting in die sensor timing.

Other responsibilities include:

·         Set up and run a Haas VMC to machine tooling components and at times production parts

·         Final assembly of new tooling and fixtures

·         Debug and repair custom production assembly machines

·         Maintain toolroom equipment, including cleaning and refilling coolant tanks, keeping oil levels up and wiping down machines.

·         Sweeping and mopping the area

Education, Experience and Preferred Skills

A high school diploma is required for this position. 5 years as a tool and die maker repairing and maintaining tooling. 3 years min. setting up and operating VMCs to produce close tolerance one off parts in a toolroom environment. Must own your own typical machinist tools, mics, depth mics, calipers, grinding vises, etc.

Required skills include:

·         Ability to surface grind cutting punches, form punches and die details within less than .0005 tolerance

·         Ability to maintain timing of tooling when sharpening

·         Proficiency in operating a comparator

·         Ability to dress Radii via a Clearview radius dresser

·         Have a clear understanding of indie sensors and die timing

Preferred Knowledge/willing to train the right person:

·         TMA certification

·         Proficient in Solidworks, Camworks, Autocad and Excel or similar programs

·         Mitsubishi wire EDM set-up and programming via Camworks

·         Deep draw tooling experience is a plus

·         Links press control operation and set up
