Job Description
Our busy restaurant is looking for a detail-oriented individual with exceptional time management abilities who is passionate about providing our clients with an exceptional dining experience. As our next line cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that every dish is cooked and presented following appropriate recipes, presentation standards, and with accuracy for the guest order. We need an experienced cook who is comfortable with a variety of cooking techniques such as poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking. Our ideal applicant is a team player who can successfully communicate with other kitchen staff to keep our restaurant running efficiently. $16 - $20 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain work stations, including all countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition per health and safety regulations
  • Adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
  • Demonstrate professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with visitors, vendors, and associates
  • Set up cooking stations and fill them with all of the essential preparation items for a shift
  • Grill, broil or saute menu items according to standard recipes and presentation specifications
  • Arrive on time and ready to work
  • Communicate with coworkers, waitstaff, and management
  • Become aware of what is happening in the dining room (e.g. arrival of a large group)
  • Follow all the restaurant regulations prescribed
  • Communicate problems and ideas to management
  • Attend all meetings
  • Fill out all forms required
  • Label and date products used
  • Follow management instructions and suggestions

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Prior food service industry experience is highly desired
  • Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification such as a GED
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and have high attention to detail
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
  • Must be able to meet all safety and sanitation requirements of kitchen equipment and food storage
  • One year of cooking experience and/or Associate’s degree in the culinary arts field
  • Knife skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • Basic cooking knowledge
