SUMMARY:

The Field Technician position will require both field (~90%) and office (~10%) work. Field work is in a high desert climate in variable weather conditions and terrains. This position is assigned to the White Rock, NM office, thus the Field Technician will conduct field and office work from this location. The Field Technician will work under the supervision of a Site Superintendent.

GENERAL FIELD ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of site for excavation and sampling activities
  • Manual excavation to locate buried utilities.
  • Installation of stormwater control measures
  • Working with and around heavy equipment
  • Working on elevated platforms
  • Operation and maintenance of pumps, generators, hand drills, and similar equipment
  • Placement of hazardous waste in appropriate disposal containers
  • Visual inspection, documentation, and sample collection of various media to include soil, sediment, rock, water, air/vapor, and waste for investigation and characterization purposes.
  • Sample collection via spade and scoop, hand auger, and mechanical auger means.
  • Actively participating in daily pre-job briefings and safety meetings

Office activities include but are not limited to:

  • Participating in required training and project meetings
  • Assistance with the preparation for field sampling activities and other field related tasks, including assisting with preparation of sample bottle kits, labels, and associated paperwork.
  • Additionally, the Field Technician will follow BGI company safety standards, participate in safety training, and assist in preparation and implementation of environmental, health, and safety plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in construction or environmental work (preferred)
  • Ability to stay in compliance with safety requirements and regulations.
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • High school diploma (preferred)
  • Drug and Alcohol and Drug & Alcohol test required.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER OSHA Training (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical.
  • Attention to safety, quality, detail, and strong time management capabilities required and must have an excellent safety culture and ethics.
  • Will be required to lift equipment and carry supplies and materials which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a high-desert field setting with the potential to work in adverse weather conditions. The field environment will require, but not be limited to, excessive walking/hiking, standing, bending, kneeling, and sitting.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to meet project requirements or deadlines.
  • Must pass a drug test, physical, and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy.
  • Must be a US Citizen and meet the requirements to hold facility badge.
  • Ability to obtain access to Federal Facilities or security clearance, if needed.
