Salary: $19.82 - $27.33 an hour Reg/Cert DOE

Purpose:

Responsible for facilitating the operation of a residential alcohol and drug addiction recovery program as well as serving the special needs of program participants and individuals involved with the criminal justice system. Provide group and individual substance use disorder counseling. Provide social model training for long term recovery


Principle Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. (Some duties are assigned based on time of day worked):


1. Support program participants in their recovery; facilitate group discussions; confer with participants individually. Facilitate a minimum of two – twelve-week courses of Matrix Group Counseling sessions per year.


2. Assist with intake, assessment, recovery, and exit plans for “Guest Room” (Social Detoxification area) and primary program.

3. Crisis and emergency intervention, as needed.

4. Plans, monitors, and supports the efforts of residents in the maintenance of a neat, clean and safe facility. Assign work projects, dispatch community outings in company vehicles, monitor telephone and lobby operations, and prepare activities board.

5. Assures timely communications with persons served funding sources, staff, and families. Works closely with the justice system, probation, and County Behavioral Health staff.

6. Assures compliance with agency policies and procedures.

7. Maintain a caseload of participants; monitor and document recovery plan goals; monthly progress notes.

8. Plan and direct recreational, vocational, or educational activities for program participants. Such as volunteering at special events, helping search for and secure employment, and community education/outreach activities.

9. Assures compliance with all safety regulations.

10. Assures compliance with all client confidentiality requirements.

11. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.

12. May perform special projects or other duties as assigned to assure the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:


Experience in the alcohol and drug addictions field; Approved amount of time in continuous sobriety. State alcohol/drug counseling certification required (may be registered, pending certification).


Reports To: Program Manager or Director


Supervisory Responsibility: None


Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


1. Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service with adults and families.


2. Ability to successfully facilitate individual and group discussions.


3. Ability to observe, evaluate, document, and communicate verbally and in writing; use of computer to input observations and required documentation


4. Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction treatment, recovery, 12-step recovery process, and the effect of alcohol and drugs within family systems.


5. Knowledge of Community Resources.


6. Ability to communicate and lead in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.


7. Ability to handle crisis and emergency situations with good judgment and self-restraint.


Environmental Conditions:


Constant movement around facility and some travel in the community. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, paperwork. Time spent in meetings. Exposure to some outdoor weather and environmental conditions.


NOTE:  Employees will be required to be fingerprinted, screened for tuberculosis, and health screened for fitness for duty.
