The role is responsible for overall administration, planning, compliance, evaluation and client relations for tax compliance and consulting engagements for clients in diverse industries. Oversight of ongoing administrative duties and initiatives for the department as assigned. Assist shareholders, principals, and senior managers in practice/business development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • 10+ years progressive State and Local Tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience. Demonstrated successful experience as a supervisor.
  • Experience in a public accounting or professional services firm environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations, as well as state and local tax codes and regulations is required. is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to deal effectively with interpersonal relationships.
  • High degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and capable of performing multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking skill capabilities are essential.
  • Broad exposure to SALT including knowledge in State Income/Franchise Tax, Credits and Incentives, Sales and Use Tax, and Property Tax.
  • Excellent analytical, technical and tax accounting / technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, and combined state tax returns.
  • Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
  • Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Firm leadership to develop, interpret and oversee strategic initiatives that align with Firm objectives.
  • Drives revenue through new and incremental growth of current and prospective clients.
  • Oversight of full range of State and Local Tax services including income/franchise and sales/use tax return review, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, assisting clients in audit defense.
  • Provides guidance on identifying optimal filing positions, exemptions, credits and incentives, and identify corporate structures for tax minimization purposes.
  • Maintains proactive communication with clients to exceed expectations, ensures satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and leads change efforts effectively.
  • Works closely with partners, principals, senior managers, managers, seniors, and staff in other practice groups to integrates practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development.
  • Drives special practice development projects.
  • Serves as a technical resource for seniors and associates, as well as clients, in area of specialization and expertise; identify new technical issues in specialty area and take initiative to communicate with others on staff to increase awareness and understanding of the issue(s).
  • Conducts sophisticated tax research, consulting, and analysis to plan transactions and to resolve compliance issues.
  • Participates in activities which support practice development and firm growth strategies and goals.
  • Provides overall leadership, supervision, skills assessments of team members, coordinates training, and creates and delivers performance feedback to staff.
  • Assists shareholders and principals in identifying and proposing new work for existing clients and engage in professional activities such as writing and publishing articles, preparing, and delivering speeches, teaching courses or attending professional events.

Other Duties:

  • Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, and work processes. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • May assist co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service and demonstrating team work skills. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Perform other services as assigned.

Other Considerations:

  • May periodically travel and work from different company locations.
  • May be required to work overtime, and/or on weekends as needed.
  • Must arrive at EisnerAmper offices or client locations in a timely manner and be ready to perform job responsibilities.
