DESCRIPTION
The facilities maintenance technician is an entry level position that performs general to semi-skilled labor throughout the entire District. Work includes: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, landscaping, welding, snow removal, classroom set-up, parking lot set-up, appliance repairs, painting, drywall, and any other miscellaneous repairs. This position will also perform routine inspections, identify issues, and make appropriate repairs as required. This position reports directly to the facilities maintenance manager.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Ensures District grounds are well maintained and safe at all times.

Responsible to assist the facilities manager and/or the facilities technician ll with emergency repairs, routine repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on all facility systems and equipment including: HVAC systems; electrical systems; power generators; exhaust systems; gas powered and electrical landscaping equipment; irrigation systems; kitchen and laundry appliances; bay door operations systems and building structures including roofs, gutters, doors, drywall, and painting. 

Perform and assist with general routine maintenance and repair work on a variety of buildings, including multiple fire stations, administrative offices, and other District facilities.

Performs snow removal as necessary.

Assists in maintaining records on all facilities including repair records, preventative maintenance, schedules, and cost of repair.

Documents repair requests into District?s reporting system. 

Carries cell phone/pager as required for emergency maintenance and may occasionally be required to be on call for the same.

Completes purchase card report on a monthly basis.

Provides needed set-up and support for training facility classes.

Must be able to use and maintain a variety of hand and shop tools.

Required to supply own hand tools.

Completes fire extinguisher maintenance.

Performs other related maintenance tasks as assigned. 
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

     ENTRY LEVEL

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have ability to work under time constraints and multitask
  • Strong customer service, telephone and construction background
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have forklift operator permit
  • Must be proficient in math and English
  • Basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and construction terminology
  • Two years? experience in facilities maintenance
  • One years? experience working with large construction projects from pre-plan to finish
  • One years? experience working with small kitchen and bath remodels in all phases
  • Knowledge of how the government project process works
  • Experience with general HVAC operations
  • Experience with wiring, conduit and cable pathways, process, and function 
  • 2 years? experience with West Metro in role                                                            

MASTERY LEVEL 

  • Associate degree or equivalent 
  • Required certification and/or proficiency outlined in job description
    • May have license, certificate, or mastery of proficiency not captured in a certification 
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with-in all facets of the job
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Provides excellent customer service to all clients, personnel, and the public
  • 10 years? experience in relevant tradesperson role
