Purchasing Director Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing, the Purchasing Director develops and maintains a team of buyers to buy products at the best price available.

Purchasing Director Qualifications

• 5 years purchasing and inventory control experience
• 2-3 years of management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field
• Effective leadership ability
• Previous purchasing experience; preferably in a redistribution environment
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Exceptional negotiation skills
• ERP experience
• Keen attention detail and accuracy
• Polished oral and written communication skills

Purchasing Director Duties

• Manages and develops the Buyer team
• Oversees vendor and contract negotiations
• Forecasts trends, inventory turns and fill rates to determine needs of business
• Supports and communicate with sales, customer service, and operations in the assigned region
• Builds and maintain relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers
• Other duties as assigned
