Location: 6200 TN-58 Harrison, TN 37341

Operational Hours: Monday-Friday (9:00am-6pm) and Saturdays (10am-4pm); Closed Sundays

Status: Full-Time; Salary + Commission; Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Boat Sales Associate is responsible for utilizing the CRM to respond to customers and building market share, learning all Tommy’s Boats departments and the services each department provides, including service, pro shop, and waterfront (if applicable). The Boat Sales Associate is responsible for the sales of Tommy’s boats, being responsive to customers, building relationships with them and upselling with services from other departments. The Boat Sales Associate is responsible for helping families enjoy time on the water ensuring all customers leave with a desire to return to Tommy’s Boats.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER/COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIP:

  • Participate in creating and executing a forward-looking, detailed plan for events and time spent with customers on their lakes that will generate revenue and build the Tommy’s Boats brand
  • Actively reach out to and connect with as many customers as possible in the community and surrounding communities
  • Listen to and actively engage with customers to find solutions that meet their specific watersports needs
  • Assist in Surf Tour when needed; travel to different lakes, pick up customers, and teach them to surf. Ensure all contact information is gathered and actively try to turn each surf tour experience into a sale
  • Be available and responsive to customers at all times of the day or week

SALES/SALES PREPARATION:

  • Sell boats!
  • Ensure monthly/annual sales goals (revenue and margin) are met or exceeded
  • Maintain accurate customer lead list and record all interactions with customers in CRM
  • Maintain accurate boat inventory in Dealership Advantage, including quality photos of boat inventory
  • Ensure all boat inventory is accurately updated online at boattrader.com, onlyininboards.com, gettommys.com, craigslist.com,
  • Provide weekly lead updates to the sales manager
  • Maintain constant communication with all Tommy’s Boats departments and other Tommy’s Boats locations on leads and upcoming sales
  • Participate in the ordering and scheduling of new boat inventory
  • Keep the boat sales lot and displayed inventory clean and organized
  • Work extended hours in the busy season (May-September)
  • Write complete and accurate sales contracts, explain them to the customer, obtain signatures and file in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform a trade in evaluation; assign an accurate value to the boat and process a used boat trade through the Tommy’s Boats system
  • Be aware of competitors and keep friendly competition, proving to the customer why we deserve them as a customer
  • Stay connected with what’s happening in the boat/watersport industry (events, contests, pro rider news) and passionately share this information with customers to generate interest in our products/services
  • Engage with Tommy’s Boats service and pro shop customers to create leads for boat sales
  • Work side by side with the service and pro shop department, brainstorming how the departments can work together and introducing customers to all departments
  • Upsell the service and pro shop department with each boat sale
  • Other tasks as requested by supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Boater’s License: A valid boater’s license required
  • Boating/Watersport Experience: Experience with boats Experience with watersports preferred and ability to learn how to use the products we sell and promote (surfing, skiing, etc.)
  • Trailering: Ability to trailer and launch boats required
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office basic skills required. Experience with CounterPoint and Dealership Advantage preferred
  • Communication: Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel, ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Selling: Gain our customers trust through selling our products with enthusiasm and true passion
  • Organization: Ability to keep documents and tasks organized and prioritized, ability to multitask and stay focused
  • Flexibility: Ability to work outside of normal operating hours as needed
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all current and prospective Tommy’s Boats customers
  • Humility: Ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and learn from them

  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud. The shop can be moderately dirty, in the winters is it colder and in the summer it can be hot.  Outdoor work is expected. Work performed on water is also expected
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or crouch for extended periods of time and regularly required to walk. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to touch, feel, and handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bends at the waist, and reaches. Employee is frequently required to speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds on occasion.
