Our Management Operations team is currently seeking a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Coordinator to help make our organization a more supportive and engaging place to work by understanding the perceptual, institutional, and psychological processes that impact the ways people interact with each other. In this role, you will serve as a subject-matter expert and work collaboratively with both Management Operations and the Human Resources offices to implement an integrated DE&I strategy that spans compliance, accountability, retention, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and learning and development.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DE&I COORDINATOR

As the DE&I Coordinator, you will work with the COO to foster innovation in DE&I initiatives and will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to measure compliance with aligned EWC strategies. With appropriate direction, you will develop and recommend a DE&I strategy, ensuring compliance, accountability, and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. Here are the key responsibilities you can expect in this role:

 

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop, execute, and continuously improve a comprehensive DE&I strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and values.
  • Collaborate with the ELT and Management Team to implement DE&I initiatives, training and projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate DE&I progress through diversity audits, surveys, and data analysis.
  • Advise COO on how to best integrate DE&I principles into EWC processes, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Stay current on evolving DE&I best practices, models, and legal requirements and make recommendations to leadership for integration on organizational processes.
  • Deliver training programs to raise awareness of DEI issues and promote inclusive behaviors.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on DEI-related matters, including conflict resolution and addressing bias incidents.
  • Foster Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to create an inclusive and supportive community for underrepresented employee groups. Support ERGs and their efforts in promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Program Management:

  • Develop and manage resources (e.g., reports, brochures) that address the needs and interests of under-represented minorities participating in organizational programs.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources and relevant stakeholders, review, manage, and make recommendations to policies related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct for students and participants.
  • Collaborate with communication teams to promote the organization's commitment to DE&I externally.
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) pertaining to innovation initiatives at the Center through research, analysis, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Work with COO to ensure adequate funds are budgeted for project and innovation management efforts.

Data Analysis & Metrics:

  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of DE&I initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on Center climate and DE&I-related issues, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities for modernizing operations, enhancing transparency, and improving access to systems and information.
  • Conduct diversity audits across the organization and utilize data analysis to provide recommendations for targeted actions and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Legal Requirements

  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes and new guidance to contribute to the development of policy, objectives, enforcement, and training at the EWC.
  • Meet federal and state reporting requirements, conduct statistical analysis of discrimination, harassment, and hostile work environment complaints.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED FOR THE ROLE

To be considered for this role, you will need to have the following qualifications and skills:


Education & Experience– Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in the fields of equity, diversity, and inclusion, affirmative action, and/or laws and regulations related to diversity, equal opportunity, and other related matters. Experience compiling, analyzing, and integrating DE&I information from a variety of sources and demonstrates strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


Demonstrated Ability – to organize, prioritize and coordinate work involving a wide variety of tasks; to take initiative and work independently and cooperatively in following through on assignments; to assume responsibility for whole areas of work and integrate information from relevant sources; to gather and/or prepare background materials; to work effectively and deal pleasantly and helpfully with people of diverse cultural backgrounds; to work under the pressure of deadlines and competing demands; to acquire and maintain knowledge of and appropriately apply various policies and procedures; to establish and maintain accurate files and records; to adapt to changes and exercise good judgment in dealing with a variety of situations; to perform effectively in a non-routine work environment;  to appropriately handle confidential information; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to function effectively as a work leader.


Knowledge – and understanding of DE&I principles (e.g. – intersectionality, accessibility, accountability, etc.), including the ability to clearly articulate DE&I value and plans to various audiences; of office practices and recordkeeping procedures; of correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word usage; of office machines and equipment, including computers, LCD projectors, and emerging technologies; high proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe, Acrobat Pro, or equivalent office computer applications; proficiency with Google suite, Microsoft 365, or other work sharing platforms; and of meeting software such as Zoom and Skype. 


Physical Requirements - prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

 

Travel Requirements – this position requires availability for occasional in-state, national, and international travel to support business needs.
