Position Overview

The VP of Sales is a key part of the Carole Fabrics leadership team reporting to the President, and will oversee all aspects of revenue generation through both independent dealers and national accounts. In this position, the successful candidate will lead a field sales team of approximately 22 territory managers spread throughout the U.S. We desire a strategic leader who is passionate about talent development, motivation, product knowledge, and acting as the chief advocate for our customers while at the same time building strategies that maximize revenue and margins. He / she must be a strong strategic thinker with the intellectual curiosity to look for opportunities for greater sales impactfulness. From there, this collaborative leader will need to be effective in building support throughout the organization using an innate servant leader mentality, in alignment with our culture and values. The candidate must also be a strong communicator and be adept at operating at an executive level, but with a passion for "rolling up their sleeves" and being engaged at the grass roots.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading sales teams in the B2B interior finishes and home décor market with demonstrated effectiveness selling to the design trade. Experience in textiles and/or window covering a strong plus.

What you'll do

  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, offering guidance and direction to maintain our short- and long-term sales goals.
  • Lead / participate in the day-to-day financial oversight of Carole Fabrics, including billing, promotional activities, pricing questions, and cost containment.
  • Develop KPIs and associated reporting to serve as a barometer of how the organization is performing.
  • Be pro-active in seeking ways to improve the organization and sales effectiveness, whether in terms of better policies, reporting, training, organizational structure, or internal processes and resources.
  • Work closely with merchandising and marketing to address unmet opportunities from a product, delivery, or communication perspective.
  • Develop strong ties with customer assurance and manufacturing to allow effective trouble-shooting for product or system issues.
  • Participate in annual budgeting process by developing sales plans by channel.
  • Serve as the primary contact for new and existing national accounts to help remove hurdles to execution and growth.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop members of the sales team, and establish succession planning to eliminate coverage holes within territories.
  • Be the primary face from a sales perspective with our parent company (Hunter Douglas) in regards to channel management and cross-company sales initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Who you are

  • A four year degree or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years experience in increasing responsibilities leading various sales functions.
  • 5+ years experience leading a national or large regional sales team.
  • Experience selling into the interior design industry and to dealer networks.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a servant/leader mindset.
  • Excellent at building relationships across functional matrixed groups to achieve best outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in developing highly motivated, successful sales organizations through coaching, team-building, and recruiting.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels of an organization.
  • Analytical with strong data management and financial skills.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite of products.
  • Ability to travel on average 25-50%. Domestic only.
