Position: Process Engineer Reports To: Plant Manager Salary Range: $90K-$100K Bonus: 4%-5% bi-annual bonus Relocation: Possible Summary Of Job: Monitor existing plant processes as directed by the Plant Manager to ensure stabilization, cost effectiveness and yield maximization within established process specifications. Job Responsibilities: Include the following (other duties may be assigned): Cooperate with business development managers and development engineers and be aware of development efforts of new products as directed by Plant Manager to smooth the transition into manufacturing equipment and processes as new products mature. Assist in the development of in-process specifications, equipment settings, and develop process plannings for new products as introduced to manufacturing floor. Work to develop yield calculations of assigned products through various process stages of their manufacture. Assist the Manager of Quality Assurance to implement statistical process control documentation, training, and upgrading consistent with the company’s overall quality policy. Assist Plant Manager and Q.A. Manager in specification and selection of laboratory instrumentation and process equipment as directed. Periodically, and as directed by the Plant Manager, interface with customers concerning product specification and testing. Participate in selection of computer software and hardware when applicable for process engineering work. Responsible for allocation of energy usage of various pieces of equipment. Periodically review equipment performance levels in terms of yield, efficiency, and ease of operation for your assigned processes. Document results and keep historical data. Develop process plannings to ensure products are built to current specifications. Review and assist on creation of new product plannings. Upgrade existing process plannings as needed and distribute to manufacturing personnel. Revisions to process plannings should reflect improvements in quality, yield, efficiency, etc. Maintains log of all revisions. Identify departmental equipment needs. Specify equipment requiring periodic calibration and equipment handling requirements. Assure that products are built to approved procedures and processes. Issue corrective action reports as required, and ensure the effectiveness of corrective and/or preventative actions. Understand and utilize statistical techniques required to assess process capability and product characteristics when necessary, and initiate process improvements. Affirm that products are properly labeled packaged, stored for delivery to shipping in a timely fashion. Specify key process points for testing and verify that products are tested in accordance with approved procedures and segregated as to test status. Participate in periodic product process reviews and implement any resulting action items. Prepare and revise level 3 and 4 documentations consistent with the current ISO-9001 standard. Interface as required with the development engineer to support the design process. Responsible for control of department quality records as directed. Establish procedure for identification and traceability of product. Ensure non-conforming product is recycled, scrapped, or further dispositioned per specific instructions (i.e. process planning). Education, Certifications, and or Experience: BS degree in ceramics or materials engineering or equivalent.
