LMI is seeking an Event Planner/Outreach Coordinator for DHS CWMD Operations Support Directorate (OSD) in their engagements with Federal, State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (FSLTT) stakeholders. Successful candidate demonstrates competency in planning and execution of events/outreach activities in support of OSD leadership with attention to detail, critical thinking and excellent coordination skills. This position requires the ability to obtain DHS Suitability. This is an Onsite position at Client's location in Washington, DC.

With the threat of transnational terrorism and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by nations potentially hostile to the U.S., DHS has taken steps to integrate the full range of its radiological, nuclear, chemical, and biological capabilities to enhance the nation's abilities to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using WMD, and support operational partners in closing capability gaps along adversary pathways. As the focal point for this effort, DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Operations Support Directorate (OSD) requires advisory and assistance services to effectively operationalize CWMD by developing and enhancing the capabilities of the DHS Components as well as federal, state, local, territorial and tribal (FSLTT) partners. LMI provides advisory and assistance services (program support, training and exercise, medical operations, information integration, requirements generation, and operational coordination) to CWMD Operations Support Directorate (OSD).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include planning and managing all aspects of in-person and virtual events including conferences, workshops, and seminars according to event objectives, requirements, and target audience. Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):

    Maintain a calendar of events for DHS CWMD OSD.
  • Work through DHS event request and approval processes.
  • Work with event sponsors to develop event format and agenda and other associated event documentation (e.g., welcome packets, and biographies of speakers).
  • Manage invitations for speakers, panelists, and participants, and track event registrations.
  • Identify event locations and manage vendors in accordance with DHS rules and regulation.
  • Liaise with vendors on facilities, food/beverage, and information technology.
  • Support oversight of vendors' execution of requirements and budget/funding.
  • Execute event promotional activities.
  • Provide on-site support before, during, and after events.
  • Support capturing lessons learned, best practices, and after-action reporting.
  • Support in conduct of organizational studies and eveluations as needed to operate more efficiently.
  • Support graphic designing needs.
  • Travel as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in related or similar work including large event planning.
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • Exemplary organization, time management, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve under pressure.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Microsoft office product proficiency including remote collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Certified in exhibition management (CEM) preferred.
  • Knowledge of DHS event approval process and/or federal government event management experience preferred.
  • Experience in graphic designing preferred.
