Education and Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED, including and supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and typing
  • Proficient in Excel is preferred, but not required
  • Must have knowledge of or willing to learn facility credentialing
  • Must have knowledge of medical billing
  • Must have valid TX driver's license and be insurable

Job Purpose:

  • Will serve as the Center's Billing Specialist
  • Responsible for the development, preparation, billing and collection of insurance (third-party payments of individuals served).
  • Prepares and submits reports and requests for payment from third-party payers
  • Responsible for the credentialing of all providers with MCO's, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance
  • Responsible for bank deposits and downloads the EOP's
  • Responsible for the posting of incoming payments and adjustments

Job Function:

  • File claims in a timely manner and helps to resolve billing issues
  • Credentials all providers with MCO's, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance
  • Monitors billing against collection activities
  • Ensure all invoicing is complete and mailed no later than the 10th day of the month
  • Review client accounts for any discrepancies or balalnces owed to the Center
  • Reviews and prepares reports
  • Responsible for creating and distributing the journals in a timely manner to the appropriate person for posting of payments
