Job Title: Server/Utilities

Position Scope: The server will work in our dining room to prepare front of house for meals, taking resident orders and dining room closing duties.

Reports to: Director of Culinary

FLSA Status: Full-time, Part-time, PRN

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Culinary Service Associate works in our dining room to prepare front of house for meals, taking resident orders and dining room closing duties. Assists in helping by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as clean, safe, and sanitary.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.

· Is prompt and reliable in coming to work.

· Take food and drink orders from residents and guest accurately and with a positive attitude.

· Write resident or guest food orders on order slips.

· Engage with residents in a friendly manner.

· Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.

· Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.

· Perform end of shift duties in dining and kitchen.

· Assists cook in serving and plating out meals, as needed.

· Assists cook with food preparation, as needed.

· Assists in clearing and resetting counters or tables at conclusion of each course.

· Delivers prompt and courteous service.

· Runs dishwashing machine. Sets up or breaks down dishwashing area.

· Maintains infection control standards, updates, and inspects sanitizer and dish machine temperature logs.

· Cleans dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, or utensils. Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwasher or by hand.

· Places clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.

· Sorts and rinses dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and places them in racks to send through dish machine.

· Sorts and stacks clean dishes. Carries clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas. Rewashes soiled dishes before delivering.

· Change dishwater in dish machine every two hours, or before washing glasses or tableware.

· Washes pots, pans, and trays by hand.

· Wipes up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.

· Sweeps/mops floors. Cleans and rolls/unrolls mats.

· Attends training courses at community and maintains up to date monthly, quarterly, annual training through designated Learning Management System (LMS).

· Other duties as assigned, and which relate to the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of our residents.


Requirements:

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

· Experience providing excellent customer service.

· A positive attitude and ability to work well cooks and other staff.

· Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

· Ability to deliver orders in a timely manner.

· Flexible availability during dining operations hours, and servers must be willing to work any shift to meet staffing needs.

· Basic knowledge of various kitchen equipment and appliances.

· Maintains current Food Handler’s card.

· Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.

· Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

· Relates positively and communicates appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.

· Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.

· Maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by State regulation.

· Pass a Criminal Background and fingerprint check.

· Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision.

· Must have strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read and write.


PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walk and stand.

· Environment Condition – must be able to perform work both inside and outside.

· Sit – sit infrequently.

· Lift - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.

· Carry - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.

· Push - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.

· Climb – must be able to climb stairs on a frequent basis, with the opportunity to utilize the elevator as an alternate resource if available.

· Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips, and spine on a frequent basis; may require frequently manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.

· Squat – must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee, may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.

· Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.

Reach– must be able to reach on a frequent basis. May occasionally reach overhead, requiring manipulation of weight of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulating weight of 25 pounds or more.
