Purpose of the Job

The Vice President, Branch Network is responsible for organizing, planning and directing the strategies and activities of the Branch network and operations. This position is also responsible for the oversight and management of Truliant's Branch expansion strategy. The Vice President, Branch Network is responsible for ensuring policies and programs are in line with overall Credit Union objectives and ensuring quality of work, smooth service delivery and adherence to the strategic direction of the Credit Union.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serves as member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) to direct overall Branch Operations, through active participation with Senior Management, Board of Directors, external service organizations and vendors.
  • Identifies opportunities to meet member needs while improving productivity and creating long-term sustainable value, recognizing that the success of the Credit Union's strategy relies heavily on the achievement of goals under this role's purview.
  • Demonstrates sales and service leadership of our consultative sales and service practices including inbound and outbound sales fulfillment methodologies while evaluating the effectiveness and reach of those efforts.
  • Develops, executes and manages short-term and long-term sales plans within the confines of the credit union sales culture for the two key product group segments (deposit and loan products), adapting sales strategies according to the differences and complexities of each segment.
  • Develops and promotes culture that actively cross-sells products and services within the TruPhilosophy including partners such as mortgage, commercial, ancillary, insurance services and investments.
  • Forges a collaborative partnership with other senior leaders to ensure a consistent approach to people, process, technology, and member experience.
  • Partners with other senior leaders to develop and execute Branch expansion strategies, which also include Denovo initiatives, relocation and closure of existing Branches.
  • Partners with other senior leaders to develop and execute merger and acquisition strategies for the Branch network.
  • Oversees the selection of ATM sites within the market to compliment Branch footprint and Truliant at Work business partners.
  • Provides direction and structure for Branch leadership to ensure proper coordination of activities consistent with meeting established goals, objectives, and policy expectations.
  • Ensures proper implementation of new and/or existing policies and procedures for consistent operations and service delivery.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to determine the desired member experience. Clearly defines "excellent member service", and develops effective teams who provide high quality service and solutions, consistent with the desired member experience.
  • Develops and is accountable for the successful achievement of measurable financial and operational success indicators. Identifies potential barriers to success and develops alternatives for overcoming those barriers.
  • Creates plans and coordinates the development and delivery of all marketing-related programs and services consistent with the Credit Union's Strategic Vision and Business Plans. Consults with other senior and mid-level managers, and other employees to create and effectively execute the plans and programs.
  • Creates comprehensive target strategy to leverage industry contacts/relationships to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Oversees the Branch emerging leaders program which develops mid-level talent for Branch Manager positions upon graduation of the program. This programs develops internal talent that supports Credit Union initiatives, leadership development, DEI, and provides the foundation for becoming a successful manager within the network.
  • Partners with members of the senior management team to create and support strategic initiatives related to business development and growth in target markets and the areas that are existing.
  • Works directly with the Senior Director of Branch operations to develop strategy, coaching and oversight to the operations team.
  • Works directly with the Branch staffing and engagement manager to develop hiring strategies, staff attributes and training programs to ensure that new staff members are effectively hired, on-boarded and retained.
  • Works directly with the Branch analyst to ensure that the team is identifying trends, opportunities and needs that align with the Credit Union vision and Branch operations strategies.
  • Develops, defines and implements an on-going business development strategy that utilizes the Truliant at Work staff to support the objectives of the Branch network across all geographical regions (primarily new markets), as well as ensures attainment of Credit Union service goals and growth.
  • Researches/implements new strategies to improve penetration and increase average balances within individual Business Partners.
  • Coordinates and participates in annual review process, staff promotions, hiring, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions for assigned personnel.
  • Prepares and monitors annual budgets for assigned responsibilities.
  • Actively promotes the mission of the Credit Union within the organization and throughout the communities served by the Credit Union.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the Branch network, and loan origination environment, as well as the complete line of services offered by the Credit Union
  • Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the Business Development environment
  • Must have experience with multi-branch operations
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Must have intermediate knowledge on Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the credit union
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
  • Must have ability to apply technology to financial products and service delivery
  • Must be able to make high-level decisions in an ambiguous environment
  • Must be able to identify and evaluate business threats and opportunities

  • Must have ability to read and absorb numerous business-related publications and industry data
  • Must be able to solve, or assist with problem solving in all member service areas

  • Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
  • Frequent travel required

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or a related field required
  • Minimum of 7 years management experience, 3 years of which in a senior management role required
  • A working knowledge of the fundamentals of the financial industry required
  • Experience in establishing relationships in the Human Resources field and/or financial services preferred
