THE POSITION

Are you ready to move your career forward into a supervisory role? Do you have extensive knowledge and understanding of vocational rehabilitation services? The Department of Labor & Industry is seeking to fill the position of Vocational Rehabilitaion Supervisor. Under the general direction of a Vocational Rehabilitation Manager (DA), this position plans, organizes, directs and supervises a unit of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors engaged in providing Vocational Rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities. Become a vital member of our team as we work to provide services to Pennsylvania citizens.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Within this role, you will implement the goals of the VR program through assigning, scheduling, directing, and monitoring unit work. Duties include accessing and updating participant records using a web-based application. Your responsibilities will include reviewing base, detailed, and referral information within CWDS and assigning to the appropriate staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Washington.
  • Salary: Most employees will start at the beginning level of the advertised salary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Vision Rehabilitation Therapist; or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (commonwealth titles); or
  • Two years as a Social Worker 2 (commonwealth title) in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND possession of an active Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certificate issued by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND a master's degree in vocational rehabilitation, mental health, special education, social work, human services, psychology, business administration, human resources, public administration, or a closely related field.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
