DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home. Key duties of the position include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items; preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts, and nourishment; using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (8-hour day; 40-hour week)
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (10:30 AM to 7:00 PM), rotating days and weekends, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

  • No previous experience and training required.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required):
  • Previous food service worker experience


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
