Position Summary & Duties Responsible

POSITION SUMMARY

Community Center Manger will develop plans, organize, implement, and evaluate a variety of community services and recreation programs, including special events and recreational activities. Accountable for assisting experienced recreation staff in all phases of recreational activities at assigned sites. Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Assist with classes/programs/events program participants to include inclusion activities and actively engage all participants at program sites. Establish schedules and procedures to provide recreational services and facility use. Requires participation in basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills training. Employee supervision includes hire selection, training oversight, performance assessment, coaching, disciplinary and termination actions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage all operational and program activities of a County Community Center Facility.
  2. Develop and monitor facility annual budget; plan purchase needs; develop facility maintenance and capital improvements.
  3. Select, train, supervise and evaluate permanent, seasonal, contractual and volunteer staff.
  4. Oversee the maintenance of the facility and its equipment.
  5. Maintain cooperative planning arrangements and working relationships with public and outside agencies.
  6. Develop and implement recreational, educational and leisure programs for the public.
  7. Maintain records of program participation, cash collected and other administrative and program related activities.
  8. Prepare required reports and seasonal program schedules for the facility.
  9. Coordinate with area agencies for facility use and special events.
  10. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. ?

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Education, or related field, and three (3) years of work experience in recreation, community service program management, program administration or facility management, plus one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

  1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
  2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
  3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.
  4. Employee must complete required Supervisor classes if applicable.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. All essential duties are performed indoors and outdoors.
  2. Indoors duties are performed in a temperature controlled environment on an even surface, which may be carpeted or tile.
  3. Outdoor duties may expose worker to natural weather conditions. Outdoor duties are performed on surfaces that include concrete, asphalt, ramps, natural ground, gravel, and stairs which may be wet or dry.
  4. Work is done primarily alone and can be done with a select team at times.
  5. County vehicle is used on an as needed basis.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS

  1. Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties include telephone, computer terminal, computer printer, computer keyboard, typewriter, photocopy machine, fax machine and calculator.
  2. Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various other paperwork, and a wide variety of basic office supplies.
  3. A variety of sports equipment may be used in performance of essential duties.
