Overview

The Vermont Military Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Military Project Manager. The Project Managers position is an integral part of the Maintenance Operations Team. Candidates must have excellent oral and writing communication skills to collaborate with Finance, Environmental and Maintenance Teams. In this position, you will develop, coordinate, inspect, and manage multiple construction and/or maintenance projects at Military facilities throughout the state. You'll will work with architects, engineers, contractors, military, and civilian personnel.

This position will manage contract documents and conduct other necessary functions to ensure that all federal and state documents have been filled out properly and in a timely manner. You will also provide progress reports of projects, both financial contracting aspects and real property accountability requirements. The Military Project Manager will assist and review the design of projects to ensure that savings are at a maximum. This position will work with and assist with other Facility Management programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in office and field settings. Attendance at public meetings as a representative of the Department may be required. Some public speaking may be necessary. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Duties may not always adhere to a standard daily or weekly schedule. Some exposure to adverse climate conditions and adversarial opinions at hearings and project meetings is predictable.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction management or a closely related construction engineering field AND one (1) year or more of experience in building construction, repair, and/or maintenance or conducting code compliance reviews of buildings and building systems. (i.e. plumbing, electrical, and mechanical) including overseeing multiple construction or renovation projects.



OR



Associate degree in construction management or a closely related construction engineering field AND three (3) or more years of experience in building construction, repair, and/or maintenance or conducting code compliance reviews of buildings and building systems. (i.e. plumbing, electrical, and mechanical) including two (2) years of overseeing multiple construction or renovation projects.



OR



High School graduation or equivalent AND five (5) or more years of experience in construction management, repair, and/or maintenance or conducting code compliance reviews of buildings and building systems (i.e. plumbing, electrical, and mechanical) including two (2) years of overseeing multiple construction or renovation projects.

Special Requirements

Incumbents of this job are issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC), which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check. Candidates must obtain the CAC for successful completion of original probation. Possession of the CAC is a condition of employment.
