Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Toxicologist is a Frisco, TX based role that leads and manages day-to-day activities in toxicology at Keurig Dr Pepper, to enable KDP to innovate and commercialize safe food and beverages for every need. This role works side-by-side with Quality, Nutrition, Chemistry, Regulatory, Packaging Innovation, and Legal. The Senior Principal Toxicologist plays a key role in the product and packaging development process of all our food and beverage categories through application of toxicology science, consumption data and risk assessment. We are looking for a team member who is collaborative, high-performance team-oriented, and able to apply technical and academic excellence across our food and beverage portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and effectively execute department strategies to support world class competency in toxicology.
  • Lead risk assessment for finished product, ingredients, and packaging and contribute to thought leadership on the application of established toxicology methods.
  • Help assure business success through the appropriate application of toxicological assessment to innovation, product application, food safety and productivity initiatives.
  • Go-to expert for internal and external legal counsel with science-based risk assessment of ingredients and food contact materials.
  • Ensure the highest standards in quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive the GRAS safety determination process for expanded use of ingredients and food contact materials.
  • Understand the industry’s toxicology current and future concerns by staying abreast of external regulatory changes.
  • Excellent ability in using statistical analysis and data science tools in decision making.
  • Understand the business and product categories and seamlessly work cross-functionally.
  • Consistently use independent judgement to make decisions and risk assessment.
  • Confidently serve as the scientific expert representing KDP working with outside organizations, committees, and other assignments. Review and comment on toxicology studies, design studies, and submit proposals.
  • Develop and monitor budget.
Requirements:
  • Minimum: PhD in toxicology, must be Board Certified (DABT).
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience, food or beverage background preferred.
  • Experience in Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) preferred.
  • Recognized authority within the field.
  • Exceptional willingness and propensity for collaboration, relationship & team building.
  • Independently define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and confidently support them when challenged.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and external presence skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 15 %
