Job purpose
Under the direction of the AP/Payroll Supervisor the incumbent assists in all areas of accounts payable and payroll on an as needed basis.
Duties and responsibilities
- Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
- Assist with preparation and completion of payroll, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with of reports for distribution and/or payment of payroll taxes, garnishment, payroll deductions, child support, health benefits, tax deduction, etc.
- Compile payroll data such as hours worked, toke/tip rates, commissions, and amounts to be withheld such as required deductions, taxes, and insurance.
- Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files or compute wages and deductions and post to payroll records.
- Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for employees.
- Record data concerning employee transfers, unpaid leaves of absence and usage of paid personal time off (PTO).
- Assist in the preparation of tax and management reports.
- Assist AP/Payroll Supervisor in preparing and reviewing monthly spreadsheets for accruals, expense, and void checks.
- Determine compliance with Illinois Gaming Board’s procedures concerning payments to approved vendors and for retrieving Federal I.D. numbers on current vendors.
- Report cash disbursements on a daily basis.
- Assemble and reviews vendor invoices, purchase orders, receiving documents, and other information for payment.
- Input accounts payable into the computer system.
- Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Safeguard the confidential information of all employees, department, and company records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) to Three (3) years of experience with computerized Accounts Payable/general disbursements or a combination of education and/or experience preferred.
- One (1) to Three (3) years of computerized payroll experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain a gaming license.
- Must have solid decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills are required. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationships with all individuals.
- Ability to work occasional overtime and irregular hours.
