The Daughters of Charity is private residence for the Daughters of Charity. Independent, assisted and memory care is available for the retired Sisters of the Daughters of Charity. We are located in Menands, NY, in a wonderful parklike setting. Vehicle parking is on site. We are looking for a compassionate, team oriented individual to join us as a Nurse Assistant.

This position is an integral part of our group. The Nurse Assistant will assist with the care of our Sisters. We are seeking a caring individual who enjoys working with an older population. This position is on the 1st Shift and includes every other weekend, some holidays.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with each Sister
  • Assist with the provision of patient care, complying with the established standards of care and the following of defined procedures.
  • Assist with the orientation of newly hired nurse assistants.
  • Work with other staff members to achieve departmental goals and maintain good morale and teamwork
  • React positively to change and handle other tasks as assigned
  • Maintain professional discretion and confidentiality in all areas
  • Be proactive; follow through with changes
  • Participate in/on committees as needed
  • Provide leadership through example and sharing of knowledge with others
  • have a knowledge of and an ability to apply the concepts of Person Respected Care
  • Complete yearly required training both internally and externally
  • Other tasks as needed

Physical/Environmental Demands

Physical Activity- must be able to efficiently perform the duties of the position which may include:

  • Standing and walking 2/3 of the day
  • Sitting 1/3 of the day
  • Use of hands and fingers to handle and/or feel; reaching, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, lifting up to 300 pounds with or without lifting assistance equipment
  • Possess peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
