Customer Service Specialist
MAIN FUNCTION:
Serve as a customer service contact for internal and external customers of the Patient Financial Services Department. Respond to customer questions and concerns with third party and self-pay billing procedures. Review and respond to PFS correspondence. Receive and respond to all incoming customer service calls to the department, as well as all walk in customers.
RESPONSIBLE TO: System Director Revenue Cycle
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED with keyboarding skills.
Computer skills or Meditech skills.
Demonstrated oral communications skills.
1 year relevant experience and knowledge of patient accounts, registration, billing, and credit procedures.
Post High School education in business or medical related fields.
No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employee in this position may be exposed to blood, body fluids and/or airborne pathogens and is required to wear barriers.

* Follows appropriate service standards
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
* Greets and assists walk-in customers to the PFS department with self-pay and third-party billing questions.
* Receives and responds to various payer correspondence regarding accounts receivables.
* Accepts incoming phone calls and assists phone customers in resolving billing issues. Sets up payment plans
* Makes outbound customer calls to follow up on outstanding balances using the IVR system.
* Update insurance and submit for rebilling as necessary.
* Functions as a liaison between patients, hospital departments and physician's offices concerning billing issues.
