Responsible for the development of market segment(s) and solicitation of new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts and consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage and ancillary products and services.


  • Represent hotel by soliciting, responding to and negotiating with persons requiring, but not limited to, large and complex group accommodations with or without meeting space and/or on-site (hotel) catering, based upon market segment and account files assigned by the Director of Sales
  • Represent hotel in significant interactions dealing with customers relative to sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Write Proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective account or group about rate, meeting space, and/or banquet date availability. Develop and quote prices for the same.
  • Negotiate contracts with customers and commission agreements with third party agencies.
  • Ability to complete a contract in compliance with all checklists, standards and hotel policies.
  • Utilize discretion and authority to negotiate contracts and commit company with customers and establish agreements with vendors.
  • Develop sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals.
  • Courteously answer incoming phone calls from persons inquiring about the rental of guest rooms and/or meeting space and/or the purchase of on-site (hotel) catering; assist supportive staff with answering of telephones, respond emails, maintaining sales files, etc.
  • Qualify customer, either inquiry related or driven by solicitation, for strategic buying needs and uncover personal buying needs.
  • Compile and/or manage the preparation of reports pertaining to the development/performance of the assigned markets and/or accounts that are not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast in order to reach the department budget.
  • Assist in establishing pricing strategy for groups in conjunction with Director of Sales and Revenue Manager and/or Revenue Director
  • Managed the assigned market segment and/or Accounts to achieve/exceed the revenue and goals assigned as well as the hotel budget.
  • Engage in the solicitation efforts through effective oral and written communication while managing RFP/leads and rate negotiation process to ensure acceptance and proper positioning of hotels versus competition.
  • Actively participate and complete the preparation of the annual Sales Marketing Plan and Business Plan. Execute initiative and outlined; implement strategies/tactics to offset changes in markets, economy or driven by the competitive set.
  • Partner with operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts.
  • Engage in outside sales activities to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in assigned markets (percentage of travel dependent on specific market). Participates in Trade Shows, Blitz, Telemarketing, industry and customer events when required.
  • Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group-pick up, and any other meeting related, etc.
  • Conduct site inspections and property tours with potential customers, visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotel facilities.
  • Quantitative processing of data via office machine equipment, mathematical computations and analytical skills necessary to accurately determine and communicate financial, forecasting and space utilization calculations.
  • Proficiency in the use and operation of computer systems with the ability to navigate efficiently through Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and Extranet, Delphi, OnQ, etc.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence and similar written materials.
  • Possess a good conceptual understanding of electronic devices and the ability to operate such items as copy machines, slide projectors, microphones, computers, etc.
  • Provide training for administrative/coordinator support and/or another team member as required.
  • Interpersonal skills to deliver outstanding guest service.
  • Any other tasks assigned by General Manager or Director of Sales or Director of Sales & Marketing.
