Status: Full Time

Shift: Monday through Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 am, On-call Rotation

What will I do as an employee with Redstone?

As a RN Wound Care Coordinator, supporting the Redstone mission will include the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, completes, and documents all areas of care related to: draining wounds, fistulae and/or tubes, wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence, and specialty treatments as applicable, within the Nursing Facility. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to develop and implement policies and procedures to manage wound care and willing to pursue further education as the need arises.
  • Maintains documentation and care coordination in the electronic medical record for each resident. Coordinates care with the attending physician and rounds with in-house wound physician regularly. Completes necessary weekly documentation and provides updates to the Clinical team as needed for meetings, insurance reviews, and discharge planning.
  • Collects data for wounds for tracking, trending, and regulatory purposes. Maintains accurate and updated data on a regular basis including any analysis of trends. Participates in interdisciplinary and infection control committee meetings as directed, providing up to date information related to wounds. Alerts the Infection Control Preventionist and Director of Nursing of any trends or findings.
  • Completes investigations into wounds of unknown origins and completes weekly skin inspections per orders. Reports findings to Infection Control Preventionist.
  • Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff. Participate in planning, conducting and scheduling in-service training classes for the items above to help ensure a well-educated nursing department.

What do I need for this role with Redstone?

  • Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtains and maintains wound care certification while ensuring compliance with recommended best practices for wounds through attending seminars and trainings and CEUs related to wound care.
