About this job

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of activities related to diversion prevention monitoring procedures and practices.  The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will be responsible for maintenance of a comprehensive controlled substance surveillance program based on regulatory body requirements including, but not limited to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and best practices.  The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will help execute a comprehensive auditing program for controlled substances.  The position requires extensive contact with hospital administration, pharmacy leadership, nursing department leaders, and hospital staff.  The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician participates in standards of practice, ensures quality and patient safety regarding medication management and process improvement activities.


Minimum EducationHigh School diploma or the equivalent required.
Required LicensesPharmacy Technician
Current certificate from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Health career Association and current registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern.
Required SkillsRegistration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within thirty (30) days of employment.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of pharmacy coverage to the patients of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on all units.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Work ExperienceThree (3) years pharmacy experience required.
