About this job

This is a full time (0.8 - 1.0 Status), day shift Employee Health Program Manager position in the Employee Health department.

Ensures that an organized and effective program for employee health is maintained and monitored.  The Employee Health Nurse (EHN) is available for employee consultations regarding health issues; actively initiates and coordinates programs and provides corrective measures to promote wellness and protect the health of Community Medical Center and Clinics employees; complies with various agency requirements pertaining to health and safety.  This is a non-union position reporting to the Human Resources Director with a dotted line to the CNO for nursing competency oversight and direction.

PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES 

  • Oversees Employee Vaccination, Annual Influenza Prevention, Post-Exposure Response, Immunity Requirements, Workplace Violence Prevention, PSN/Safety Events, Respiratory Protection, Ergonomics, and Employee Wellness programs.
  • Ensures the maintenance, storage, accuracy, and confidentiality of employee health records and provides internal and external reports as required.
  • Promotes a culture of health and safety by creating an environment that supports employees’ optimal health using best practices and evidence-based techniques.
  • Coordinates employee care to effectively promote health, manage illness and injury, prevent disability, and facilitate return to work.
  • Collaborates closely with the Infection Prevention team, conducts surveillance and exposure follow-ups, offering expertise to medical and clinic staff, and collaborating with clinical departments to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with the Risk and Compliance department on the Exposure Control plan and Infection Control Committee.
  • Responsible for facilitating, tracking, and inputting time off for employees on leave or who utilize FMLA and/or LTI leave.
  • Communicates FMLA status and usage to managers as appropriate.
  • Communicates and coordinates leave and return to work options with employees.
  • Is the contact for and manages relationship with Montana State Fund.
  • Represents Employee Health in committees and leadership meetings and fosters collaboration across all Community Medical Center sites.
  • Maintains the fiscal plan for Employee Health, monitoring expenses, providing reports to administrators, and ensuring efficient equipment and supply utilization.
  • Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

 Minimum Education:  

  • Associate degree in nursing required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Unencumbered Montana RN or LPN license, or the ability to attain prior to start date.
  • BLS/ACLS Certification or complete upon hire.

Preferred Certification(s): 

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse preferred.
  • Certified Safe Patient Handling Professional preferred.

 Minimum Work Experience:  

  • 3+ years relevant nursing experience required.
  • RN/LPN experience involving immunization or injection procedures. 

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Employee Health or Occupational Health experience preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Required Skills: 

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to set priorities, be organized, and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to be friendly, empathetic, and an adept communicator.
  • Solid understanding and application of basic epidemiology and infection prevention principles, along with familiarity in employee health or occupational health practices.
  • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH, and other regulatory agency standards.
  • Ability to manage highly confidential employee information and can effectively manage delicate employee health matters.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, sound judgment and attention to detail and can complete all organizational requirements on a timely basis.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform fit testing using qualitative methods.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices for self and others as appropriate and fosters an environment of trust, collaboration, and learning.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of and ability to implement policies and procedures.
