Purchasing Agent Job Purpose: Obtains requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders; verifies receipt of items; authorizes payment.

Purchasing Agent Job Duties:
•    Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
•    Prepares outside service purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining production related information and scheduling to support internal schedules.  Coordinate purchase order with shipping to ensure completeness and accuracy of requirements.
•    Obtains purchased items by forwarding quotes, reviewing price and delivery and forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
•    Organize purchase orders placed; coordinate with receiving to ensure accurate receipt records.
•    Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
•    Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation to Accounting for processing.  Resolve Invoicing problems raised by accounting to ensure payment.
•    Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents. General administrative duties related to company functions.
•    Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends to update management.
•    Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results emphasizing detail and urgency.
•    Coordinate and maintain compliance to EH&S Safety Data sheet requirements.
•    Maintain compliance with Corporate Directives related to Insurance forms & certificates for all vendors performing business on site.
•    Works in coordination with Quality to ensure Vendor compliance and related Audits and reviews as necessary.  Coordinates with Production when alternative sources are deemed necessary due to technical or business relations.
•    Complies with Corporate policy and guidelines related to Vendor Diversity.

•    Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma, Associates degree preferred
•    Must have 3 years of experience in procurement, cost accounting, supply chain, shipping/receiving, customer service, or other relevant field.
•    Experience in manufacturing is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

As this position will also be supporting shipping/receiving as needed, this role requires bending, twisting, crouching, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently.
