CSI Sands (N.E.) operates state of the art sand processing facilities that enable manufacturing and refinement of proppant and construction aggregates in Brevort, MI, Buffalo, NY, Cleveland, OH, and Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are in search of an Operations Manager to lead our open pit sand mining operations in Brevort, Michigan. This role would manage a 1,000,000-ton annual production mine and oversee the wash plant operations.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage mine and plant operations.
  • Develop detailed mine designs and schedule/sequences (monthly, daily, weekly mining plans).
  • Determine optimal stockpile use and inventory.
  • Ensure the completion of scheduled production and on-time shipment.
  • Attend daily coordination meetings with production and operations.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of grade / Tons.
  • Complete monthly mine production reporting and comparisons to budget.
  • Manage manpower and equipment planning.
  • Develop waste dump schedules, dumping plans and remediation plans.
  • Provide mining engineering and design services for open pit mine studies, such as scoping, feasibility, detailed design, and technical reports.
  • Prepare mining equipment specifications and oversee mining equipment procurement.
  • Prepare mining CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates.
  • Follow and ensure all personnel, contractors and visitors comply with all Company specific safety protocols, policies and procedures relating to OSHA, MSHA, Environment and Communities.
  • Ensure all mandatory reporting relating to the operations of the mine and plant is completed timely and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records in a manner that follows approved document control procedures.
  • Resolve field issues in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the instruction and training of employees; including in-house safety training courses, employee orientations and onboarding, and ensure the Environmental, Health and Safety program and the Environmental Management Plans are understood and properly applied.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local municipalities, business partners, vendors and the general public.
  • Research and recommend best practices, process improvements and operational innovations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a Mining Engineer/Operations Manager role in the mining industry or industrial production (crushing, screening, manufacturing).
  • Self-reliant and easily adaptable to change.
  • Creative and innovative in providing solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make quality decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, territorial, State and federal mining and minerals production regulations.
  • Strong skills in the areas of supply chain, production planning, scheduling.
