Licensed Esthetician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Come Join our team at the Art of Balance Wellness Spa! We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Esthetician to add to our Five Star service team. The Art of Balance is located at the Ritz Carlton Residences in downtown Baltimore. 

Estheticians with Art of Balance Wellness Spa are expected to exude 5-Star service while providing guests with facials, waxing services, and body treatments. Estheticians must possess a thorough knowledge of the skin, possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills, and be willing to train in our spa’s specific offerings. 

Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

  • Be on time for their shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the time allotted for the service; Ensure proper coverage by an alternate therapist if unable to perform their shift.
  • Maintain guest confidentiality and observe guidelines set forth by HIPAA.
  • Provide consistent and professional facials, waxing and body treatments that are in accordance with accepted certification practices and with spa protocols. 
  • Be flexible with your schedule to support the needs of the spa. 
  • Actively promote home care to guests. 
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation as directed by the state’s board and spa’s policies. 
  • Properly clean and restock rooms as required. 
  • Handle guest questions and concerns professionally and according to the spa’s policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a quality, teamwork environment. 
  • Regularly attend, participate in staff meetings. 
  • Communicate with management about any and all occurrences involving staff or guests. 
  • Manage levels of professional stock and supplies.
  • Properly care for equipment and use the proper amount of products. 
  • Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness. 
  • Maintain a current and active state license. 

Required Experience & Education

  • Current and active state license.  
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a Four-Diamond environment or equivalent spa environment.
  • Experience with peels, skin analysis, and extractions.
  • Experience with consistent use of European machine modalities.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills. 
  • Basic computer knowledge. 
  • Enthusiastic about excellent customer service. 

Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift 5 lbs. 
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 15 lbs. 
  • Indoor work environment. 
  • Must be able to work some weekends, holidays and nights. 
  • Must have reliable transportation. 
  • This is a smoke-free workplace.

TASKS

  • Sterilize equipment and clean work areas.
  • Examine clients' skin, using magnifying lamps or visors when necessary, to evaluate skin condition and appearance.
  • Cleanse clients' skin with water, creams, or lotions.
  • Demonstrate how to clean and care for skin properly and recommend skin-care regimens.
  • Select and apply cosmetic products, such as creams, lotions, and tonics.
  • Perform simple extractions to remove blackheads.
  • Stay abreast of latest industry trends, products, research, and treatments.
  • Determine which products or colors will improve clients' skin quality and appearance.
  • Treat the facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance, using specialized techniques and products, such as peels and masks.
  • Refer clients to medical personnel for treatment of serious skin problems.
  • Remove body and facial hair by applying wax.
  • Provide facial and body massages.
  • Keep records of client needs and preferences and the services provided.
  • Apply chemical peels to reduce fine lines and age spots.
  • Collaborate with plastic surgeons and dermatologists to provide patients with preoperative and postoperative skin care.
  • Actively promote services and skincare products to clients.
  • Tint eyelashes and eyebrows.
