Event Sales Manager

We are looking for an organized Event Sales Manager to assist with marketing, promotion, community involvement, and event planning & execution at The Virginian Lodge. Seeking a skilled and enthusiastic ambassador to share our newly renovated lodge and brand pillars with old friends and new, creating advantages for our property in the competitive Jackson Hole hospitality market. Successful candidate will join a team charged with creating year-round experiences for guests and neighbors, activating physical spaces and documenting and sharing the range of events, collaborations, and attractions. The Event Sales Manager's responsibilities include working with the existing management team to develop engaging awareness campaigns & promotional literature, assist in the execution of unique and on-brand experiences for Virginian guests and Jackson Hole locals, and provide a detailed on-property line of communication with clients, guests and staff.

Essential Traits

Must possess the charisma to rapidly build relationships as The Virginian Lodge establishes itself as Jackson's communal hub.

Must enjoy culture and be invested in local art scene: galleries, entertainers, and designers. Must know and be excited to share Jackson's unique and colorful history.

Must be familiar with the epic adventures found in The Virginian's backyard and beyond and be able to share the best Mother Nature has to offer. Having connections to the outdoor sports industry helpful. Ability to work closely with and support our in-house concierge, Outbound Adventure Center.

Must love organizing and producing events, parties, games, and other forms of entertainment. Will provide opportunities for guests to relax as well make active memories, bringing to life the shared vision of the team.

Must have business sense and be able to estimate and present the costs and potential benefits of activations. Creative collaboration with partners to share costs will help supercharge the range of events and experiences that can be done within the budget.

Must embrace teamwork. Success will require excellent communication & cooperation skills in addition to a healthy dose of personal motivation. Sometimes Team Virginian will need a hand for something mundane and unrelated, but important. Just as the Virginian staff will assist with Special Events, the Event Sales Manager will assist with day-to-day operations.

Job Requirements

Experience: Knowledge of hospitality, travel, social scenes, event planning, social media, branding, mountain tourism, ecology, history, art, music, brand development, or joint marketing all a plus.

Skills & Abilities:

Complete, review, and distribute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)

Communicate group & event details and changes to all hotel departments

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Ability to learn CRM, PMS & POS systems as needed

Assist the DOS with Sales duties as needed including but not limited to site tours

Travel required: Occasional for promotion and sales

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:
  • Prior Experience:
    • 1+ Previous sales events, hospitality, and/or secretarial experience preferred
  • IT Expertise:
    • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.
  • Education:
    • High School diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Subject Expertise:
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
    • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
    • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
    • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
    • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
    • Must be energetic and outgoing
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
    • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
    • Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
    • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
    • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:
  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
  • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
