The Pickleball Club, headquartered in Sarasota, FL is a developer of premier membership based one of a kind indoor pickleball clubs in the state of Florida. The Company is well underway with its plans to develop 15 facilities across the state of Florida with its strategy to take advantage of the significant unmet demand for quality indoor sports facilities across Florida. Our first state-of-the-art facility is now open and operating in Lakewood Ranch and we are excited to be opening our second location in St Lucie West in May of 2024.


The Head Professional reports to the Program Manager. He or she has the principal responsibility of teaching high-quality lessons/clinics and create member engagement. That includes but is not limited to organizing, planning, promoting, scheduling, and managing all programming activities (e.g., leagues, tournaments, pro exhibitions, special events)


The most important objective is to ensure that each member feels motivated and engaged. The Head Professional has a unique opportunity to impact members’ lives and ensure they stay engaged and happy in the club.


Responsibilities:

As Head Professional, your primary responsibility is to generate enthusiasm, create member engagement, teach lessons/clinics, manage events, leagues and skill play, court activities within the club. Here are the job responsibilities:

  • Member Engagement: Connect with members and staff on a daily basis, while playing in skill play, open play, during lessons/clinics or anywhere on club premises.
  • Program Promotion: Promote all scheduled events, clinics, lessons, pro exhibitions on a daily basis with the goal of getting members excited and motivated to participate
  • Creating a welcoming environment for members of all skill levels
  • Take new and potential new members on club tours, promoting all club facilities and benefits
  • Program Development: Develop and implement pickleball programs suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. This includes lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, social events, pro exhibitions and special programs.
  • Promotion: Promote and encourage members to participate in appropriate programming activities.
  • Team Player: Be a team player with all staff members. Educate, support, and communicate to enhance both the staff and members’ experience.
  • Teach at least 4 lessons/clinics per day (XLR8, 3 and Me’s, Private Lessons, Pickleball University)
  • Ability and desire to generate own list of clients
  • Facility Management: Ensure pickleball courts are well-maintained, safe, and appropriately equipped with necessary amenities like nets, paddles, balls, and seating areas.
  • Instruction: Provide coaching and instruction to players of all levels. You may be asked to assist in the hiring and supervision of other instructors.
  • Promotion and Marketing: Promote pickleball programs and events to attract participants, both within the club and from the local community. Assist club marketing strategies, such as social media, posters, and online advertisements.
  • Registration and Administration: Assist in participant registration, waivers, fees collection, league fees, and maintaining and reporting accurate records of program attendance and progress.
  • Safety and Rules Compliance: Ensure that all participants adhere to safety guidelines and follow Operating Manual, SOPs, and regulations during games and activities.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and inventory of pickleball and bocce equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are available for use.
  • Participant Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive environment for players, encouraging participation and creating a sense of community among pickleball enthusiasts.
  • Communication: Keep members and concierge staff informed about upcoming events, changes to schedules, and other relevant information through regular communication channels.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Collect feedback from participants to assess the effectiveness of programs and make improvements as needed.
  • Networking: Build relationships with other pickleball organizations, clubs, and associations to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Certification: Maintain a professional certification, including participating in workshops and clinics designed to maintain such certification. Participate in internal training workshops.
  • Medical Emergencies: Be skilled in how to satisfactorily manage medical emergencies.

Overall, the Head Professional plays a crucial role in ensuring that the pickleball community within the club thrives, attracting new players, and providing enjoyable and rewarding experiences for all participants.


Requirements:

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field experience in a similar position. USPTA, PPR, IPTPA and/or USPTA certified. Prefer previous country club experience.
  • One year experience as a pickleball teaching professional.
  • Must possess great pickleball skills, 5.0+ or higher.
  • Strong desire to grow, learn, excel, improve, and continually educate self and team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set priorities and define what is most important.
  • Be able to solve problems and create procedures to ensure the department and personnel are efficiently working to their full capacity.
  • Available to work all club’s hours as required including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a professional pickleball teaching certification (USPPR or IPTPA)
  • Maintain or obtain (within 30 days of start date) CPR/AED First Aid certification within the first 30 days of employment at your cost.
  • Proficiency with Court Reserve preferred.
  • Ability to motivate students and offer dynamic pickleball instruction.
  • An outgoing personality and the ability to create and maintain a positive environment through interaction and communication with members, guests, and staff.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Reporting:

The Head Professional will report to the Program Manager


Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 20 pounds regularly, squat and bend over regularly.
  • Carry out repetitive motions regularly, lift and carry awkward items, stand for length of shift (with breaks and lunches given per policy)
  • Must have the ability to play and instruct pickleball for a minimum of 2 hours/period.
  • Must have a valid form of identification.
  • Must be drug free, as the Club is a Drug Free Workplace. Testing is a condition of employment.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • $30,000 base salary plus $50 per hour for on court revenue generating time
  • Medical benefits (premium company paid)
  • Dental and Optical insurance optional at cost to the employee
  • 401K eligibility
  • Weekly Coaching from Director of Instruction and Programming
