Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgy Technician whose primary responsibility is to perform routine preparation of metallographic samples for metallurgical evaluation, perform hardness and small-scale corrosion testing in order to facilitate metallurgy operations in a laboratory setting.

Salary: $20/hr-$25/hr

Varied Shifts - $1 shift diff - 2nd shift / $2 shift diff for 3rd shift

Responsibilities
    Perform metallographic, physical, and corrosion evaluations in accordance with company goals, quality system, and test procedures/methods
  • Collaborate with peers on proper preparation of materials and test methodology
  • Participate in team-oriented discussions to learn about Metallurgical topics
  • Perform technical review of metallographic evaluations
  • Interpret specifications/standards to ensure correct application to testing
  • Review metallurgical test results for accuracy, completeness, and consistency to specification requirements
  • Maintain qualifications to local procedures

This is a fast-paced environment, and we need someone who is proactive, self-motivated and a team player. The person for this role will be a specialist in their field, respected by all who they work with, keen to learn and enthusiastic in the face of challenge. You will:

  • Recent graduate of/or studying Metallurgy or related discipline
  • 0 - 2 years of experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing
  • Good knowledge on international standards and codes
  • Excellent report writing skill
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated team playing with excellent organizational and communication skills
