Position Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Title IX and Equity Services or their designee, the Senior Associate's primary responsibility is to provide to schools and organizations on an interim or ongoing basis assistance with Title IX, 504, ADA, EEO response and resolution services, and to develop and deliver training and education regarding harassment and discrimination. The Title IX Services Senior Associate may also be asked to serve as a hearing advisor, assist with hearing coordination, take notes during client meetings or party/witness interviews, and otherwise assist with other elements of a client's prevention, response and/or resolution processes.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direction or supervision of the Director of Title IX and Equity Services:
  • Act as an institution's Title IX Coordinator and/or Equity Director, or act as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator or Assistant Equity Officer/Director. Able to serve at a complex or large Title IX or EEO office. Assume responsibility and oversight of an institution's response to reports of harassment and discrimination in accordance with the assigned role and an institution's policies and procedures.
  • Respond to all reports and complaints in accordance with an institution's policies and procedures.
  • Draft essential correspondence related to processing of complaints.
  • Conduct, manage, and/or oversee investigations and alternative resolution processes.
  • Develop and deliver trainings related to harassment and discrimination, policies and procedures, responsible employee obligations, and prevention.
  • Assist clients in improving the overall functioning of Title IX and equity departments as well as prevention efforts.
  • Serve as an institution's subject matter expert on compliance and best practices related to Title IX, Title VII, VAWA, state and federal laws.
  • Stay abreast of regulations and statutes relating to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, the FMLA, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
  • Properly maintain all client data according to each client's expectations and standards.
  • Follow policies or procedures as set forth by client institutions, including timelines.
  • Adhere to Grand River Solutions standards for Title IX Coordinators and EEO Directors.
  • Provide guidance to more junior GRS staff assisting with the response and oversight processes for clients' Title IX and EEO offices.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Title IX and Equity Services, or the Director of Consulting Services, assist clients with drafting and revising policies, procedures, and templates while ensuring that all documents reflect current federal requirements, state law requirements, and best practices,
Additionally,
  • Work with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain an appropriate professional demeanor at all times.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
Occasional travel may be required.
Required Skills
  • Strong understanding of Title IX, Title VII, VAWA, Title VI, and related state and federal laws.
  • Understand ADA and *504 regulations, as well as the intersecting obligations of both statutes with Title IX and EEO laws and practices.
  • Ability to serve as a Title IX Coordinator or Equity Director at one or more institutions at the same time.
  • Exceptional writing skills including demonstrated skills in drafting communications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate by phone, email, and in-person with parties, witnesses, client representatives, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and grasp complex issues rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to work in and foster a diverse and inclusive environment working directly with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish rapport and work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and partner organizations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work effectively, and meet established timelines and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications
  • Five or more years of demonstrated experience serving as a Title IX Coordinator of a complex Title IX Office, and/or director of an EEO office at two or more institutions.
  • Two or more years of supervisorial or management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and to bring about consensus among groups possessing diverse opinions.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working with a wide range of policies in the higher education or K-12 environment.
  • Experience conducting or overseeing investigations or other forms of complaint resolution and appeals
  • Experience developing and delivering training
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize projects, establish and/or maintain documentation and recordkeeping standards consistent with best practices, and manage multiple/competing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize projects for completion in a timely manner
  • Training in Title IX and/or Title VII and/or Civil Rights Investigations, trauma and in sexual assault investigations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and statutes relating to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, the FMLA, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
  • Experience working with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
  • Experience in conflict management and as a team or department supervisor, or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree / JD, or equivalent experience.
Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.

The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $130,000 - $160,000. For those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $80,000 - $145,000. For those based in Colorado, the range is $80,000 - $145,000. For those based in Washington State, the range is $80,000 - $145,000. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills.
