Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a broad range of general internal communication initiatives, including such items as annual reports and weekly executive summaries
  • Build relationships with NASA stakeholders and provide general internal communication support
  • Handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities and conditions
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks
  • Work under general supervision; typically reports to a Team Lead or Supervisor
  • Research, strategize, integrate, and execute communication strategies, plans, and message management processes
  • Develop and implement communication plans for utilization across a variety of platforms
  • Write and edit communication products, including PowerPoint presentations
  • Ability to understand, write and edit technical information
  • Coordinate and integrate communication approaches and products across multiple communication disciplines and platforms
  • Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
  • Directly interface with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers, as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, multimedia, communications, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
  • Must have 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in oral and written communications, including writing and editing
  • Proficient in AP style
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • May be required to undergo a standard background check along with verification of education requirements

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to

communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
