Work for the top locally owned and operated, trusted collision repair shop in Hayward and surrounding area since 1971. All of our technicians are I-CAR trained and our shop is Assured Performance Certified. We have OEM certifications from Ford, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Hyundai, and Nissan through Assured Performance. You will be working with the highest quality and most highly trained employees in the area. We have a very low turn over rate with employees. This opening is available due to the current person retiring after 20 plus years.

Ernie’s Auto Body is seeking a qualified, long-term candidate to fill the position of Collision Repair Estimator. Our goal is to provide the highest quality in collision repair while providing the best possible customer experience. Experience in the collision repair field is not required as we prefer to train for this full-time position.

Duties

The collision repair estimator is responsible for estimating and pricing vehicle parts, labor, materials, and other related services. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in order to provide accurate estimates of costs while maintaining customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, possess strong organizational skills, have sufficient computer skills, be self-motivated, organized, reliable, flexible and punctual. This person must also be comfortable working on multiple projects at once; this individual should not only enjoy challenging tasks but handle changing priorities as well.


Detailed job duties include:
• Provide accurate pricing and quotes for damaged vehicles.
• Prepare estimates from the facility’s estimating system, including vehicle condition, body shop specifications, OEM repair procedures, etc.
• Assign quotes to customers and insurance providers; provide detailed price information on each vehicle as well as other pertinent information that may be needed to make an estimate.
• Perform pre-approval inspections with clients’ prioritization before making any final decisions for scope of work.
• Maintain communication with customers and insurance providers as well as monitor production, supplements, and repair workflow of vehicles in process.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in a collision repair office and shop environment

• Ability and willingness to learn new skills, including the ability for self-improvement

• Able to learn and successfully navigate collision repair specific computer software, including estimating, management, and vehicle information provider software

• Carry a personality of empathy and be a problem solver

• Must have excellent communication skills with customers, insurance providers, and team members

• Must possess strong negotiation skills
