Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Athenaeum Hotel

Chautauqua Hotel Co. Athenaeum in Chautauqua, NY is looking for one assistant restaurant manager to join strong team. We are located on 3 S Lake Drive. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• A working manager who supports the Restaurant Manager by focusing on dining room operations and planning. Responsible for providing training and direction to culinary and service team members. At least 1-3 years culinary supervisor experience required. Heirloom Restaurant is a full-service restaurant with a formal dining setting and lakeside porch service.

About Your Workday 

• Assist with the development and promotion of a complete set of service standards and staff training processes ensuring that delivery is consistent
• Knowledge around seasonal staffing challenges
• Assist with operations of the hotel’s dining room, beverage & bar service, and direction of service staff, communication with chef’s and kitchen staff and execution of food and beverage service delivery 
• Ensure proper set up of the dining room while maintaining a presentable dining atmosphere for guests
• Strong presence in the dining room during service periods and available to guests ensuring excellence in guest satisfaction
• Understanding of available seating and level of importance regarding the organization and assignment of seating for the dining areas
• Monitor service bar/assist with cash bars pre/post season while understanding of NYS liquor law and hotel policies regarding those laws
• Understand and assist servers with order entry into the pos system
• Maintain high levels of sanitation and cleanliness through proper food handling practices
• Understanding of how the hotels dining services support other internal and external departments and the Chautauqua experience
• Collaborate with entire management team as to consistent progressive coaching procedures 
• Promotes the athenaeum’s significance as a historic property
• All other duties as assigned.

About Your Schedule 

Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. 

While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:   

Typically work an eight-hour shift with a start time that varies between 5am to 5pm.

About Your Compensation  

Compensation for this position starts at $17.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $22.00/Hour.
