  • Ensures that Quality Assurance (QA) reviews are completed for Personal Lines. Responsible to complete roll up of QA results on a quarterly basis and identifies trends.
  • Transforms data into creative graphs, tables, charts, and other graphics in order to present and/or share the data in a comprehensive and concise manner.
  • Acts as a coverage and technical resource for Personal Lines underwriting. Creates training & educational materials for new and existing underwriting personnel. Provides and coordinates training to ensure thorough understanding of underwriting guidelines, issues, and controls.
  • Examines legal and regulatory information and decisions to keep underwriting personnel and management informed of any underwriting developments. Ensures Insurance Department compliance and acts as liaison with corporate compliance.
  • Acts as liaison with other corporate departments, including the Business Services Unit (BSU) to resolve system problems, form issues, rating issues, and workflow changes/enhancements. Proactively identifies operational inefficiencies and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists in answering questions from the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) and claim inquiries. As well as answers customer complaints through the compliance portal.
  • Mentors to Personal Lines employees through initial and subsequent knowledge and transactional skills training.
  • Coordinates and tracks all the continuing education requirements for the department, which includes Fraud training, and non-residential licensing requirements.
  • Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory.
  • Car travel represents approximately 10% of employee's time and a valid driver's license.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of state and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including collaboration, ability to influence and presentation abilities.
  • Strong problem solving and problem analysis skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
  • College degree in risk management, business, finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong underwriting technical skills; 7+years of personal lines underwriting experience.

  • Prior training experience preferred. Compliance analysis experience preferred.

The expected starting salary range for this role is$90,000 - $130,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
