We are seeking a responsible, caring individual to provide consistent and top-tier service during pet transport from homes to/from the airport, vet. Must be very reliable, flexible, friendly, and comfortable with dogs and cats. This job can develop into long-distance drives and full-time work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the safety and well-being of all live animals handled, ensuring they are properly hydrated and walked with care and service exceeding the IPATA(International Pet and Animal Transportation Association) standards.
  • Ensuring timely transport of animals, including but not limited to transportation to/from airport cargo stations, to/from vet appointments, residence pickups and delivery to boarding facilities.
  • Monitoring animals and immediately reporting health or behavior abnormalities to supervisors. Taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the animals and those around them are safe.
  • Handling and organization of animal health documents, with procedural deliveries to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
  • Following protocols for cleanliness, organization, and inventory of materials in your vehicle.
  • Following all TSA security regulations and guidelines when transporting to/from an airline cargo facility.
  • Communicating company mission, actions, and policies in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with owners, vet/care facilities, government offices, and transportation representatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work and handle sensitive/confidential situations.
  • Demonstrating initiative within a fast-paced, changing, and growing environment through problem resolution using good judgment, persistence, communication, and teamwork.
  • Possessing basic technological skills including the ability to send and receive email, use a smartphone for calling/texting, work within our dispatch app, and GPS for navigation.
  • Willingness to adapt in a highly regulated, ever-changing industry.
  • Have the ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours/shifts: early morning/late evening/weekends).
  • Maintain inventory updates and supplies for NYC area.

An ideal candidate should possess the following requirements:

  • Must be a minimum 21 years of age.
  • Live within a 35 mile radius of EWR/JFK Airports.
  • Clean driving and criminal record.
  • Experience and comfort handling pets with plenty of patience and reassurance.
  • Love for animals and an investment in their overall well-being.
  • Comfortable with significant travel and time on the road.
  • Comfortable with driving a large company transport vehicle (similar to ProMaster or Sprinter type van)
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience as a driver (preferred).
  • Previous experience with TSA regulations, or a current STA certification (preferred).
  • Commitment and dedication to improving the lives of animals.
  • Demonstrated ownership and responsibility for outcomes.
  • Possess leadership skills and ability to develop and maintain driver/customer/vendor relationships
  • Must be organized, flexible, and able to adjust to rapidly changing needs/priorities.
  • Open availability for scheduling and willingness to pick up last-minute work is preferred to be considered for a lead driver role.

Conditions of Employment

  • An extended period of time outdoors in all weather, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Perform physical labor including bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Daily hours and days of the week may vary or change according to the needs of the pet transportation schedule: will include weekends, night, split-shift, and holiday work.
  • Resourceful, roll up the sleeves approach and willingness/ability to clean and follow sanitization protocols to ensure optimal care of animals, crates, transport van, etc.
