POSITION SUMMARY:

The Asset Protection Greeter role is responsible for greeting all customers as they enter the store, ensuring that customers see the Company’s commitment to provide a safe and secure shopping environment, as well as deterring theft, shoplifting, or other dishonest activities. As the first Company representative that customers see, the Asset Protection Greeter plays a key role in establishing a safe, friendly, and welcoming shopping experience that reflects the values of Ocean State Job Lot. This role is a member of the Asset Protection team, is assigned to a specific retail store or store locations, and works closely with the regional, district, and store leadership teams, associates, and customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a position of visibility at the front of the store by the entrance/exit doors at all times to deter crime or other improper activity;

  • Recognize and greet all customers and acts as an “ambassador” of customer service;

  • Notify Store Leadership and Asset Protection of potential shoplifting concerns or incidents involving robbery, violent crimes, aggressive behavior, workplace violence, vandalism, fires, soliciting, or loitering;

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming store entrance environment;

  • Check CCTV and burglar alarm systems daily to ensure they function properly and conduct safety inspections or audits, as directed by the District AP Manager;

  • Perform bag checks on all associates as they depart the store at the front door; and

  • Direct customers arriving at the store seeking a refund to the Customer Service counter.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years or older;

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;

  • 1-3 years experience within Asset Protection/Loss Prevention/Law Enforcement field preferred;

  • Some proficiency in Gmail and Google Docs preferred;

  • Ability to work nights and weekends;

  • Must satisfactorily pass the requirements of a background check and drug test; and

  • Must have professional working proficiency of the English language (written and verbal) as well as adequate math and reading skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

  • Passionate: You must be passionate about safety, security and customer service; we love seeing hunger and ambition.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Duties are performed within a store or stores in a designated market. The market may change according to Company size and need.

  • Individuals must have the ability to move around the sales floor in a retail environment for an extended period of time.

  • Conditions for performing job functions will change, depending on the constraints of each store location, as well as internal and external environmental conditions. Some work in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Some sedentary and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
