Hours: 2nd Shift - 7pm - 7am | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience


Position Summary: Our RN II team member is a competent nurse who manages a wide range of nursing situations effectively. This nurse has gained the knowledge and skills to allow them to predict immediate likely events and changing patient needs. Professional standards guide the actions of the RN II. The Registered Nurse II is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. The RN II uses past experiences to identify solutions for current situations and is outcome focused. Policy and procedures guide actions of the RN II. Decisions are based on policies, procedures and standards of care. This nurse functions independently but consults other health care team members when needed.


Minimum Requirements:

Experience: 1-2 years

Licensure/Certifications: 

  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina;
  • Current BLS certification.


Essential Functions:  The RN II provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of the RN II include (but are not limited to:

  1. Provides care with minimal guidance.
  2. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends.
  3. Prioritizes and provides direct, professional nursing care to patients.
  4. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  5. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
  6. Ensures safe operation of equipment.
  7. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments.
  8. Administers medications by using the electronic health record and scanning process.
  9. Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
  10. Provides patient education of illness/disease and promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
  11. Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
  12. Communicates effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  13. Performs a head-to-toe assessment and reassessments on all age groups.
  14. Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides explanation and verbal reassurance.
  15. Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  16. Assumes the role of patient advocate.
  17. Complies with protocols, procedures, and policies.
  18. Documents all nursing care data concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner, using the appropriate format.
  19. Communicates appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians.
  20. Ability to be flexible organized and function under stressful and emergency situations.
  21. Exhibits professionalism at all times, showing respect and dignity to all.
  22. Participates with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource and mentor in a professional manner.
  23. Participates in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.


Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
