Ameritas is seeking a User Experience (UX) Intern to enhance our customers' digital experiences by researching user experience across our digital platforms.

This role could be hybrid or remote (Nebraska or Ohio) depending on proximity to an office location.

As a UX Intern, you will support initiatives by designing, conducting, analyzing, and presenting research. The focus will be on qualitative research but may leverage other methodologies as appropriate. You'll work with a diverse group of key stakeholders, development teams, and senior partners, and deliver insightful results that guide our digital product vision. Throughout your internship, you'll deepen your experience with methodologies with our business partners and our customers.

This role will begin in May 2024 and will last 12-months.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in all stages of UX research: identifying, planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting out insights
  • Conduct research across the company using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Assist in conducting moderated and unmoderated testing
  • Perform basic data synthesis, creating actionable insights and business recommendations
  • Build relationships and create UX advocacy across the company
  • Attend project and status meetings as required, providing strong UX research presence and user advocacy within cross-functional teams
  • Participate in collaboration sessions with product owners, product teams and key stakeholders to design the optimal customer experience
  • Work with and adjust to feedback on research design and deliverables

What you bring:

Required

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in HCI, Design, Anthropology, Psychology, or related field
  • Must be able to work 30 - 40 hours/week during the summer months and 10 - 25 hours during the academic school year.
  • Previous experience in human-centered research (customer-facing or internal), particularly interviews and / or survey methodology
  • Proficient in data aggregation and synthesis
  • Sharp eye for UX and attention to detail
  • Articulate self-starter with strong collaboration, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, Agile/scrum, and managing multiple tasks
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively advise and influence required
  • Familiarity with research conducting tools (Qualtrics, WebEx, Teams, Excel)

Preferred:

  • Expertise in research and research hosting tools (e.g. UserTesting, Userzoom, User Interviews, Qualtrics)
  • Customer-focused with strong values in UX, technology, and communication
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, Agile/scrum, and managing multiple tasks
  • Online portfolio showcasing creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in visual design
  • Experience with Design Thinking
