Adult & Child Health is an integrated healthcare provider in Central Indiana. Providing high-quality, affordable care including primary care, behavioral health services, substance abuse treatment, mobile crisis response, community-based services, homeless outreach, school-based treatment, and more.


About this role:

This is the final stage of A&C’s building of services in the crisis continuum. This position will allow clients to not only a person to call, a person to respond, but now a place to go. As a peer support specialist, you will use your lived experience and story to support individuals that are coming into crisis and potentially asking for help for the first time.


The Location and hours: A&C is based in Central Indiana. For this position, we service the following county: Marion and Johnson

Hours: Varied as determined by SLT, currently Thursday-Monday 2-10pm.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide peer support to individuals that utilize crisis stabilization unit.
  • Engage individuals in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Develop and complete safety plans and/or establish goals and next steps with the individual.
  • Provide resources as applicable.
  • Ensure safety of all individuals while at CSU.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to 12 months of specialized training
  • All applicants must be either a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) in the State of Indiana, or meet the eligibility requirements for the Certified Recovery Specialist Program for the State of Indiana. It will be required that a candidate hired without the certification must become certified with the first 3 months of employment to retain their position. Certification requires that a candidate “have lived experiences receiving mental health or substance use treatment and have been in recovery for at least one year”.
