Fall 2024 Internship

Estimated Hours: 160 hours during Fall Semester 2024

Pay Rate: Unpaid


Program Description: The PMQI (Performance Management Quality Improvement) team is housed under the General Administration division. PMQI oversees internal performance management, Epidemiology, Quality Improvement initiatives as well as NC Local Health Department Accreditation and Public Health Accreditation Board. Cabarrus Health Alliance is one of two local health departments in North Carolina to be PHAB accredited and will be in its re-accreditation cycle in Summer 2024.

General Position Description: The PHAB intern will work with the PMQI Program Manager to evaluate, condense, write narratives, and interact with various programs to ensure timely submission of the PHAB re-accreditation application.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • - Complete PHAB Trainings

  • - Assist with tracking and monitoring the progress of domain documentation collection

  • - Work with domain leads to ensure adherence to PHAB Reaccreditation timeline

  • - Identify any documentation gaps within each domain

  • - Provide technical assistance for uploading finalized documentation to e-PHAB

  • - Assist with additional reaccreditation-related tasks as needed.

Education/Experience Requirements: Current (or graduate) student in a Master’s in Public Health program preferred; minimum of Bachelor’s in Public Health

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge Requirements:

  • - Detail-oriented

  • - Highly motivated to complete assignments independently

  • - Strong writing skills

  • - Excellent communication skills to interact with a variety of program area leads.

Other Requirements:

  • - This will be a hybrid role with required on-site days and the opportunity to work from home.

  • - CHA requires employees to be up to date on all vaccines and provides vaccinations for staff as needed. Vaccines that must be up to date include Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, and Covid-19 vaccines.
