G&C Foods is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a Safety Coordinator! Location: Syracuse, NY (Onsite)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p

Salary: $58,000 - $65,000

Essential Functions:

  • Provides all training that relates to safety (OSHA, evacuation, fire safety, etc.)
  • Assist with keeping safety records/logs and prepares reports as required by law and/or any regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with reviewing and maintaining safety programs for all Departments. (Operations, Transportation, etc.)
  • Ensures proper monitoring of the Ammonia system in collaboration with the Safety & Facilities Manager and third-party contractor.
  • Conducts post-accident investigations and offers insights and recommendations for prevention measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, evaluate rick, and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulations including, but not limited to, first aid cabinets, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, forklift inspections records, etc.
  • Participate in internal and external EHS Audits and ensure corrective actions and implemented.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and management regarding EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on various EHS topics, including hazard communication, emergency response, and personal protective equipment.
  • Investigation accidents, incidents, and near -miss events to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related EHS activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
  • Coordinate and participate in emergency response drills and ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address EHS issues and drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
  • Stay informed about emerging EHS regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, auditors, and contractors.
  • Assist with the handling and preparation of hazardous waste for disposal as specified under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
  • Support and help implement corporate policy on the handling of waste material (hazardous/non-hazardous, recycling, and confidential data) throughout the facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Strong Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

Educations and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with managing/monitoring an Ammonia Cooling system preferred.
  • 3-5 years of specific experience in the field of Safety Management and Compliance.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Etc.)
