Job Title: Production Process Operator

OVERVIEW:

As the Production Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and maintaining machines and equipment to produce consistent, safe, high-quality ESL and UHT beverages.

We are seeking someone who will contribute daily to the progress of plant during start up and commissioning. Candidate will be hands-on through the process of validating line and equipment set up, operational checks and testing, initial run testing, passivation of equipment, and commissioning. Through this time candidate will assist in creation of documents and training procedures, participate in various tasks, and begin to build knowledge of the plant that will be critical to our successful startup and operation.

Ultimately, you will:

  1. Operate equipment and use various tools to produce high-quality products.
  2. Perform quality tests on bulk, raw, and finished product and document results accurately.
  3. Learn not only the tasks required for assigned job, but also understand the reason why each step is important in the production of ESL and Aseptic products.
  4. Perform routine maintenance on components of the processing and production equipment.
  5. Oversee dairy plant production processes, following SOP’s and GMP’s, ensuring documentation is accurately executed. Troubleshoot and resolves minor to moderate bottlenecks and reports efficiency opportunities and any food safety concerns to leadership.
  6. Ensures all required safety practices are followed, including confined spaces, PPE usage, chemical handling, sanitation and CIP. Responsible for reporting all safety concerns to leadership.
  7. Provide proactive support and solutions at all times
  8. Utilize ERP system to ensure accurate record keeping, follow recipes precisely, and execute procedures properly.
  9. Actively participate in HACCP team, Quality RCAs, routine plant inspections, ISDA, SQF, and customer audits.

The Production Operator plays a critical role in our plant manufacturing team, reporting to the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager.

This role requires an experienced, energetic person with great interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and a safety mindset. Mechanical acumen or experience in beverage, food, or other manufacturing environments is a plus. Self-driven work ethic, ability to consistently repeat procedures, and problem solve in a fast-paced, complex work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety, Responsiveness, and Diligent Records

  • Maintain high standards of safety in all aspects of daily plant operations routines
  • Immediately report and escalate any deviation from food safety and quality programs
  • Maintain work area in audit-ready condition at all times
  • Maintain an accurate and timely records at all times. Work with supervisor to ensure action tracker for your area is up to date
  • Always follow processes and standards to keep producing quality food, maintain high performance, and generate accurate records.
  • Report downtime issues and work with support departments to remedy issues with urgency.
  • Maintain accurate and precise records of materials for your shift and stage materials for the upcoming shift to keep the plant running efficiently

Training and Engagement

  • Engage with maintenance, quality, and other operators to troubleshoot and solve problems real-time
  • Identify and work to resolve issues that inhibit shift achievement of KPIs
  • Must have knowledge of or be capable of learning to read and interpret equipment drawings and P&IDs for the plant
  • Provide support to vendors and technicians on-site for commissioning, training, PMs, routine and non-routine work. Learn, hands-on any time the opportunity arises
  • Uphold high standards of conduct while providing support to the Suntado team and associated trades and vendors.
  • Participate in cross functional teams focused on reducing downtime and improving performance, resolving quality concerns, and take advantage of situations where your expertise can add value.
  • Report out and detail maintenance, instrument or equipment replacement, or PLC changes according to change management protocol

Operator Responsibilities

  • This position will require operators to know, learn, and understand how to operate, monitor, and maintain equipment in your area, safely in a manner to ensure optimum quality.
  • Help train and educate new and existing team members when working in your area.
  • Report to work, training, and meeting on time, when scheduled.
  • Adherence to company policy and procedures
  • Communicate effectively. Work with your supervisor to ensure understanding of your job responsibilities, priorities, and overall expectations.
  • Know all start up and shutdown procedures for equipment in your area.
  • Know and understand CIP system associated with your area’s equipment and manage system to achieve proper chemical strength, flow, temperature, and wash duration.
  • Understand recipe selection process and procedures for verifying appropriate recipe is selected for work order
  • Utilize appropriate ingredients in first in/ first out basis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED program.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience/knowledge of dairy plant operations, controls systems, pumps, mix proof valves, and milk processing equipment.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience or training related to aseptic or extended shelf-life products and associated fillers.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, be decisive, and possess the ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of basic math and reading comprehension skills

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in manufacturing maintenance, operation of food processing equipment, or knowledge of sanitation requirements for food manufacturing environment (any combination of the three is a plus)
  • Ability to communicate well to all levels throughout the plant; written and verbal
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to maintain legible records in accordance with company standards
  • Fluency in Spanish is advantageous but not required.
