Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing assistance and support to the Head Baseball Coach and the college’s Baseball program.

Responsibilities/Accountability:

  1. Assist with managing the Baseball program budgets, including scholarship, travel, operating, and equipment budgets.
  2. Assist with practices; instruct players.
  3. Recruits student athletes; attends high school games; evaluates players; communicates with coaches and players.
  4. Assists with advising and monitoring the academic progress of student athletes.
  5. Assists with scheduling practices and games.
  6. Assists with coordinating team travel including coordinating meals and hotels; reserves transportation for away games; prepares expense reports and travel authorizations.
  7. Assists with fundraising events and programs.
  8. Ensures compliance with NAIA and GCAC rules.
  9. Assists with summer Baseball camp.
  10. Develop intramural programming that is conducive to the student body
  11. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate sports.
  12. Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
  13. Knowledge of Baseball rules and procedures.
  14. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  15. Knowledge of student recruitment principles.
  16. Knowledge of NAIA and GCAC rules.
  17. Skill in the coaching and training of student-athletes.
  18. Skill in oral and written communication.

Qualifications

  1. Baccalaureate degree required.
  2. One year of related experience is required.
  3. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Louisiana for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  4. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a First Aid, CPR/AED certification
  5. Possession of or ability to readily obtain NAIA certification within four weeks of hire date.

Work Conditions

  1. The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
  2. The work is typically performed in an office and in athletics facilities.
  3. The scope of the job frequently requires working in the evenings and on weekends.
