The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be a crucial member of the team and will directly report to the Golf Course Superintendent. Their primary responsibility will be to assist in maintaining and managing the golf course, grounds, and related facilities. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a key role in executing unique projects and the daily maintenance of the golf course. This position requires a strong understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and golf course maintenance practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent, other staff members, and management.
  • Provide information and updates on course conditions and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate turf conditions, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Monitor water usage and make recommendations for efficient irrigation practices.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of golf courses maintenance equipment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of turf management programs.
  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the irrigation system.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on proper turf care techniques.
  • Ensure proper storage and care of equipment to prolong its lifespan.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance crew.
  • Compile reports for the Golf Course Superintendent as needed.
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system components.
  • Apply fertilizer and pesticides to industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a 2–4-year related field.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Pesticide applicator's license or ability to obtain one within 60 days from hiring.
  • Ability to instruct on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply fertilizers and pesticides as needed.
  • Must possess working knowledge of common turf diseases on golf course.
  • Ability to supervise and adapt to quickly changing circumstances.
  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license, with good driving record required.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices.
  • Familiarity with irrigation systems and equipment.
  • Supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
