To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 5+ years of related experience in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of full General Ledger accounting 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and practices
  • Be detail-oriented and have a high degree of accuracy 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in, or are excited to work in an early-stage environment
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and be self-motivated

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
  • Manage the full General Ledger accounting process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures
  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax regulations by monitoring physical and economic nexus
  • Review and prepare for filing sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner with the assistance of Stripe Tax & TaxJar
  • Participate in the preparation, variance analysis, and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary reconciliations, documentation, and support
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skills - Experience with ERPs similar to QB, Netsuite, or Intacct
  • Education - Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with Tax and Sales Tax a plus
  • CPA licensed or CPA candidate a plus
