The Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team and functions as a team leader and team player. The teacher plans and implements the curriculum and, with active participation of other members of the teaching team, works with parents and assesses the needs of individual children.

Responsibilities

Maintains, turns in and posts weekly lesson plans.

Plans and implements hands on activities that develop self-esteem.

Plans and implements hands on activities that develop social skills.

Plans and implements culturally diverse experiences.

Plans and implements experiences that promote language and literacy development.

Plans and implements activities that promote math concepts.

Uses and promotes positive guidance techniques.

Provides a wide variety of creative and expressive activities.

Establishes routines with smooth transition periods.

Communicates with children at their developmental level.

Plans activities that encourage children to be independent.

Involve children in the planning and implementing of plans.

Assesses and prepare program supplies and materials needed prior to implementing activities.

Ensures that the classroom check in/out list is always accurate.

Coordinates and helps supervise aides, assistants, and volunteers working in the classroom.

Assesses children’s needs and developmental progress on an ongoing basis. Uses the results of these assessments to plan activities.

Provides an integrated curriculum that meets the needs of individual children.

Promotes the center’s philosophy and educational objectives.

Supports the center’s code of ethical conduct.

Engage in ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional skills.

Supports the professional growth and development of co-workers by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement.

Attends staff meetings, workshops and in-service training provided by the center.

Regularly reads professional publications to stay abreast of the latest research in the child development field.

Posts necessary information to ensure the safety, well-being of children, and meets all CCA regulations.

Designs appropriate room arrangement to support the goals of the classroom.

Maintains a safe, orderly learning environment.

Conduct parent conferences in accordance with needs of parents and children and center philosophy and calendar.

Maintain plans and safe environment for all outdoor plan activities. Rotates thru play area to ensure safety.

Dress appropriately for work. No shirts that have alcohol, tobacco, drugs, suggestive sayings or profanity. Entire torso must be covered appropriately. Appropriate pants or jeans. All clothing should be clean and neat and in good repair. Pajamas are for pajama day only.

Provide wall displays that change at least monthly and maintain a pleasant, clean environment. (Do not take existing wall displays down until you have new displays to post.)

Make sure room arrangements are varied to support the interests of the children. Centers should be changed regularly to maintain children’s interests.

Support center Administration and Management and support the center’s philosophy at all times, in words and deeds.

Provide necessary driving records and insurance information.

Drive as required, providing for the safe transport of children to and from school and on field trips.

Be alert to the social, emotional, physical and mental needs of children.

Maintain visual supervision at all times.

Maintain observational logs and portfolios of children’s work.

Provide an orientation for new students and parents.

Introduce new materials to children in a constructive manner.


Requirements:

  • 1 year of licensed childcare experience
  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education OR see below
  • Infant, Todder and Two's Teachers: 90-hour Infant & Toddler certification, supporting breastfeeding course, ADA certificate, Basic Health & Safety Course, Covid training, 9-hour communication course
  • Preschool Teachers: 90-hour Preschool certification, ADA certificate, Basic Health & Safety Course, Covid training, 9- hour communication course
  • School Age Teachers: 90-hour School Age certification, ADA certificate, Basic Health & Safety Course, Covid training, 9-hour communication course
